Senior Data Governance Consultant (Microsoft Purview)
WorQFlow Solutions is seeking an experienced Data Governance Consultant for a contract engagement with one of our clients. In this role, you will take hands-on ownership of a Microsoft Purview environment and help establish a more mature, structured governance foundation across the organization. You will work cross-functionally with business and technical stakeholders to assess current data governance practices, address data quality issues, and build out classification and policy frameworks that scale.
What you'll do
- Take ownership of the Microsoft Purview environment and drive improvements to the overall data governance foundation
- Build, manage, and refine sensitivity labels, data classification schemas, and governance policies within Purview
- Partner with business stakeholders to understand data classification requirements and translate them into practical, enforceable governance policies
- Assess the current state of Purview configuration, identify gaps, and develop a roadmap for remediation and improvement
- Evaluate production data for anomalies, inconsistencies, and quality issues, and investigate root causes
- Collaborate with technical and business teams to address data quality problems and implement sustainable solutions
- Operate independently within a lean team environment, bringing a well-rounded governance skill set across data quality, data discovery, and classification disciplines
What we're looking for
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview, including sensitivity labels, data classification, and policy configuration
- Broad expertise across data governance disciplines, including data quality, data discovery, and governance process design
- Ability to assess production data environments, identify anomalies, and investigate the origin of data quality issues
- Experience partnering with both business and technical stakeholders to translate governance requirements into operational solutions
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently with minimal oversight
- Prior experience in a consulting or advisory capacity is preferred, with a track record of improving governance maturity in complex organizations
- Familiarity with Microsoft cloud and data ecosystems is a plus
